Our Story

Brooklyn Bagel was built on hard work, family, and a love for great food.

Founder Alan Alzado came to the United States at age 12 with his three older brothers, years before his parents were able to join them. Like many immigrant families, they arrived with very little but carried big dreams and a strong work ethic. Growing up in New York and New Jersey, Alan worked a variety of jobs, many of them in restaurants and bagel shops, where he fell in love with the fast-paced nature of the food business and the craft of making authentic New York bagels.

After moving to Georgia, Alan spent decades building businesses in the food industry—from coffee shops and pizza restaurants to Great Wraps franchises and other hospitality ventures. While he enjoyed every aspect of the restaurant business, bagels always held a special place in his heart.

When the opportunity arose to take over a small bagel shop in Johns Creek, he knew he had found something worth pouring himself into. With years of experience behind him and a relentless attention to detail, he set out to create the kind of bagel shop he would want to visit himself. One customer at a time, the business grew from a local neighborhood favorite into the thriving family business it is today.

While Brooklyn Bagel has grown to multiple locations and now serves more than 80,000 bagels each week, the process remains rooted in tradition. Every bagel is still hand rolled, brooklynized, kettle boiled, and baked in a stone oven. It's a labor-intensive process that starts long before sunrise and reflects the same commitment to quality that has guided the business from the very beginning.

Today, Brooklyn Bagel is a true family business, with Alan working alongside his son and a growing team of dedicated employees and partners. What began as one immigrant's dream has become a company built on quality, consistency, and genuine hospitality.

We're proud of where we came from, grateful for the community that has supported us, and committed to making every bagel the same way we've always done it—with care, pride, and a whole lot of hard work.
